How the dream started...

I was born and raised in NC. After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill (Go Heels!!) I married a crazy Russian (more about him later) and got a great job with fortune 500 company. I was literally living my dream. We bought a house in suburbia and had it made. Five years into marriage we were blessed with our sweet little Emily Kathryn and the dream changed. Pretty shortly after she was born I knew I didn't want to go back to work. I broke the news to my husband and our next journey began. He agreed for me to stay home with her a year... I've been a homemaker for over 2 years now so you know who won that one. It took me probably a year to be okay with the new life I chose and now I can't imagine it any other way. This blog is about our little family as it drives full speed ahead down the highway of life. I read other blogs about the perfect housewives and although I too strive to be them....my husband will agree that I am far from perfect. I always thought that moms that write blogs must neglect their children...as I write this I realize it is true so just know that while I was writing this I had no idea what my kid was up to:)

Who knew all oatmeal didn't come from a packet.

This morning I realized just how easy it was to make regular old fashion oatmeal. I don't know why I hadn't tried this before (okay probably because I didn't want to wash the pan). I cut up a whole apple, added some cinnamon and poured in some oatmeal. When it was almost cooked I added some brown sugar and voila...oatmeal that wasn't processed and only cost pennies. Yeah today I fed my kid something healthy. We're off to a good start. I must in all honestly say that she didn't necessarily scarf it down but soon the prepackaged oatmeal will be a distant memory for her.
